
Rural Interventions for Sustainable Livelihood Generation
At ASAR Foundation, we believe in supporting organizations to accelerate sustainable and inclusive interventions, the impact of which can be measured in areas of our operations. We feel that there is a strong commonality between our belief and our projects, driven by goals that – “benefit farmers, bring in a real impact on their income with improved savings & holistic animal care.”
Sustainable livelihood generation by enhancing productivity through Occamy Biosciences’ feed supplement for milch animals in Pratapgarh district, Uttar Pradesh. Awareness generation around animal nutrition has been done via door-to-door visits in over 40 villages. With over 3500 beneficiaries, a positive impact has been generated with respect to animal health, productivity, both in quality and quantity of milk output.
An on ground assessment has been done of the existing need gap in veterinary requirements of farmers in Pratapgarh district, based on which a rural intervention program has been designed, whereby farmers with milch animals are provided veterinary support via Dr. Pashu App. The objective is to offer access to qualified, certified and an experienced panel of veterinary doctors over video consultation, along with on ground para vet support. The larger objective is to educate farmers about animal health management and cure by making timely interventions.
Project Samuday, a dairy Intervention Program executed for HCL Foundation in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh. The objective was competency building of Milk Producers. A sustainable livelihood intervention was carried out for dairy producers by establishing a local volunteer trainer network linking intended beneficiaries. Functional competency development programs were executed for the small and marginal farmer’s productivity enhancement, animal management, breed improvement, preventive health services and clean milk production.
Farmer mobilization and establishment of village level cooperative society for Varanasi Milk Union in Bhadohi district, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Identified farmer’s in possession of milch animals and established milk collection centers after forming cooperative societies, leading to improvement in the quality of milk for better realisation at farmer level and improvement in farmer’s income.
